Why was PRIMS developed?

The Indonesian peatland is vast

PRIMS allows stakeholders to spatially and virtually monitor the 2.67 million hectares of peatland across seven restoration priority provinces by utilizing near real-time data

Multiple stakeholders presence

PRIMS enables and encourages the collaboration of multi-stakeholders, from the government, private sectors, and civil society organizations

A repository of restoration activities

PRIMS functions as a databank for all restoration activities data and acts as a reference in benchmarking and monitoring advances in peatland restoration efforts

Peatlands are prone to degradation

PRIMS monitors peatland degradation indications to prevent and mitigate peatland damages

Some PRIMS features

Display the distribution of peat restoration activities keyboard_arrow_right

Stakeholders can see peatland restoration activities in the prioritized areas, allowing for better restoration planning

Identify peatland clearing and draining indication keyboard_arrow_right

Stakeholders can make informed decisions to reduce the impacts from peatland clearing and draining

Observe hotspot distribution in peatlands keyboard_arrow_right

Stakeholders can prioritize area with fire indication and make the appropriate fire suppression strategy

Forecast fire potential in fire-prone areas (under development) keyboard_arrow_right

Stakeholders can detect fire-prone areas early and take the necessary steps to mitigate or prevent forest fires

Observe groundwater levels in peatlands keyboard_arrow_right

Stakeholders can utilize PRIMS data to manage groundwater level at a safe level and keep peatlands sufficiently wet

Monitor soil moisture levels for fire risk management keyboard_arrow_right

Stakeholders can see in near real time the soil moisture levels in peatlands to gauge the efficacy of rewetting interventions

Monitor peat restoration efforts with PRIMS interactive map

You can utilize more than 30 map layers to monitor spatial data in near real-time, such as peatland distribution, hot spots, planned and implemented restoration, and many more.
