Information

Hot spot distribution data are gathered from: FIRMS (Fire Information for Resource Management System), Terra/Aqua's Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) with a spatial resolution of 1000 meters, and Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) with a spatial resolution of 375 meters. This data is updated daily.

Information

Hotspots are detected by three sensors: Terra/Aqua's Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) with a spatial resolution of 1000 meters, Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) with a spatial resolution of 375 meters, and OLI (Landsat-8) with a spatial resolution of 30 meters with confidence interval of more than 30% (medium).

Protected Peatlands are peatlands area with a depth of three meters or more that has the primary function to protect and balance the water system, carbon storage, and biodiversity conservation.

Cultivated Peatlands are peatlands area that has a function in supporting productivity through cultivation according to its ability. Cultivated peatlands should has a depth less than 3 meters according to Peatlands Ecosystem Maps with a scale of 1:250,000 which is available on the Ministerial Decree SK.130/MenLHK/Setjen/PKL.0/2/2017 on The Definition of National Peatland Ecosystem Function.

Non peatlands are area outside of the protected and cultivated peatlands.

Information

Hotspots density indicate the number of hotspots per area (million hectares). It is calculated by dividing the number of hotspots with the area and calculated in both concession area and non-concession area.

Concession consists of concession for plantations including for pulp and paper and oil palm

Information

This layer showcase the Fire Danger Rating System for peatlands. The fire index for this model is calculated by using hydro-meteorology approach and utilizing the modified Keetch-Byram Drought Index (mKBDI) model. This model will combine the weather parameter and hydrology in determining the fire hazard. The mKBDI score will be grouped into four category: Safe, Alert, Danger, and Extreme in the span of the last seven days in BRG's priority provinces: Jambi, West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, Papua, Riau, and South Sumatera. The data will also be available in the district level.
